Tom's Hardware Guide

March 30th, 2009

The Problem

The original site was disjointed, blocky, and had no focus. For all the content that the site presented to it’s users, there was no direct focus on any one element.

The Solution

We created a new site design which helped define a focal point for the content and created less obtrusive content containers. Simplistic and minimum styling with a focus on typography was used to draw attention to copy.

The Result

With the new design the eye flows naturally down the page. Each piece of content now has it’s own place to “live” and does not compete with nearby content or ad space.

When Tom’s Hardware was sold in early 2007 our business relationship was ended. Our work for THG was in use until late 2008 when a series of updates by the Tom’s Hardware internal team removed much of our work.
